Description

Introduction and Mode of Action: Fenpropathrin is an insecticide and acaricide with contact and stomach action from the pyrethroid group. It is used to control insects and mites such as the European red mite on temperate fruit trees. This pesticide also has repellant effects on insects. Fenpropathrin disrupts sodium channels in the axonal membrane of nerve cells.

Pre-harvest Interval: The period between the last spray and harvest is 7 days.

Usage Management

Fenpropathrin is effective against mobile mites, causing their mortality. Its application should only be based on the recommended crop list and not used on other crops or plants.

How to Use

  1. Select and calibrate an appropriate sprayer.
  2. Dissolve the recommended amount of pesticide in a small amount of water thoroughly.
  3. Add this solution to the half-filled calibrated sprayer tank.
  4. While stirring, add the remaining water to the tank.
  5. Keep the sprayer’s agitator running during solution preparation and spraying.

Precautions

  • Avoid ingestion, contamination of food, skin, eyes, or clothing, and inhalation of pesticide particles.
  • Do not eat, drink, or smoke while spraying.
  • Use protective clothing, gloves, masks, goggles, and boots during application, and wash the body and clothing thoroughly after spraying.
  • Avoid reusing pesticide containers.
  • Empty containers should be stored away from water sources and disposed of per national environmental guidelines.
  • Transport the pesticide following international hazardous material regulations.

Storage Conditions

  • Keep the pesticide out of reach of children and animals in its original packaging.
  • Store in a closed warehouse away from sunlight, moisture, and livestock.
  • Storage temperature should be between 10–35°C.
  • Once the seal is broken, the shelf life is reduced.
  • Avoid storing the pesticide as an aqueous solution.

Symptoms of Poisoning and First Aid

Symptoms include eye, skin, and respiratory tract irritation, dizziness, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, and visual disturbances.

  • In case of pesticide contact with the skin or face, wash the affected area multiple times with soap and water.
  • If poisoning symptoms occur, consult a doctor and provide the pesticide label.

Environmental Toxicity

  • This pesticide is highly toxic to birds, bees, fish, and other aquatic organisms.
  • Keep livestock and poultry away from treated areas and prevent grazing in recently sprayed zones.
  • Avoid contaminating drinking water, streams, and groundwater with the pesticide or its solution.
  • Do not wash sprayers near rivers or running water.

Antidote

Fenpropathrin does not have a specific antidote. However, diazepam can be used to alleviate nervous system symptoms.
