Description
Introduction and Mode of Action:
Pyriproxyfen is a hormonal insecticide that affects the growth stages of immature insects, preventing their development. It disrupts hormonal growth processes in larvae, preventing them from becoming pupae and adult insects.
Usage and Application Rates:
Crop | Pest | Application Rate |
Citrus | Brown scale | 500 to 750 mL per 1000 liters of water |
Cotton | Whitefly | 750 mL per hectare |
Pre-Harvest Interval (PHI):
The interval between the last spraying and harvest is 28 days for cotton and 7 days for citrus.
Application Management:
Since Pyriproxyfen is only effective on larvae and nymphs, the appropriate time to use it is when early pest growth stages are observed, before the appearance of adult insects. Avoid using this pesticide near mulberry trees and silkworm-rearing areas.
Method of Application:
- Select and calibrate a suitable sprayer.
- Dissolve the recommended amount of pesticide in a small quantity of water.
- Add this solution to the sprayer tank, which is half-filled with water.
- While mixing, add the remaining required water.
- Ensure the sprayer tank’s agitator operates during both preparation and spraying.
Precautions:
- Avoid ingesting the pesticide, contaminating food for humans and animals, or contact with skin, eyes, or clothing.
- Do not inhale pesticide particles or eat or drink during spraying.
- Wear protective clothing, a hat, goggles, a mask, impermeable boots, and gloves during spraying.
- After spraying, thoroughly wash clothing and body.
- Smoking is strictly prohibited during spraying.
- Do not reuse pesticide containers. Empty containers should be stored away from water sources and disposed of according to national environmental regulations.
- Transport must comply with international hazardous materials regulations.
Storage Conditions:
Store the pesticide out of reach of children and animals, in its original packaging, in a closed storage area away from sunlight, moisture, and livestock.
Storage temperature should be between 10°C and 35°C.
Once the container seal is broken, the stability decreases.
Do not store the pesticide as an aqueous solution.
Symptoms of Poisoning and First Aid:
Symptoms include headache, dizziness, nausea, and visual disturbances.
- If pesticide solution contacts skin or face, immediately wash the affected area with soap and water several times.
- In case of poisoning symptoms, consult a doctor and provide the pesticide label.
Environmental Toxicity:
This pesticide is hazardous to honeybees and aquatic life.
- Remove livestock and poultry from the area before spraying.
- Prevent grazing in freshly sprayed areas.
- Do not contaminate drinking water sources, stagnant, or underground water with the pesticide or its solution.
- Avoid washing spraying equipment near rivers and running water.
Antidote:
This pesticide has no specific antidote. In case of poisoning, consult a doctor.
