Description
Introduction and Mode of Action: Emamectin benzoate is a non-systemic insecticide that penetrates plant tissues via translaminar movement. It primarily acts through ingestion and has limited contact activity. It affects the insect’s nervous system, causing paralysis through inhibition of muscle contractions, stopping feeding, and ultimately resulting in the insect’s death.
Usage and Application Rates:
Crop | Pest | Application Rate |
Cotton | Spiny bollworm | 280 grams per hectare |
Pre-harvest Interval:
No official pre-harvest interval has been registered for this pesticide.
Application Method:
Select and calibrate the appropriate sprayer. Dissolve the recommended amount of pesticide in a small quantity of water, then pour this solution into a half-filled calibrated sprayer tank. While stirring, add the remaining required water. The tank agitator must be running during both preparation and application.
Precautions:
- Avoid ingestion of Emamectin benzoate, contamination of human and animal food, contact with skin, eyes, and clothing, inhalation of particles, and consumption of food or drink during spraying.
- Wear protective clothing, a hat, goggles, mask, boots, and impermeable gloves during spraying.
- Wash clothing and the body thoroughly after spraying.
- Do not smoke during application.
- Do not reuse empty pesticide containers.
- Empty containers must be stored away from water sources and disposed of according to national environmental regulations.
- Transportation must comply with international regulations for hazardous materials.
Storage Conditions:
- Store the pesticide in its original packaging, out of the reach of children and animals, in closed storage away from sunlight, moisture, and livestock.
- Storage temperature should be between 10°C and 35°C.
- Once opened, the shelf life and efficacy may be reduced.
- Avoid storing the pesticide as an aqueous solution.
Symptoms of Poisoning and First Aid:
Symptoms include headache, dizziness, nausea, and vision disturbances.
If the pesticide comes into contact with the skin or face, wash the affected area several times with soap and water immediately.
If poisoning symptoms appear, consult a doctor and show them the pesticide label.
Environmental Toxicity:
- Highly toxic to honeybees.
- Remove livestock and poultry from the area before application and prevent grazing in freshly treated fields.
- Avoid contaminating drinking water sources, surface, or underground water with the pesticide or its solution.
- Do not wash spraying equipment near rivers or running water.
Antidote:
No specific antidote is available for Emamectin benzoate. In case of poisoning, consult a physician.
