Description
Introduction and Mode of Action: Ethion is a non-systemic, contact insecticide and acaricide from the organophosphate group. It works by inhibiting cholinesterase enzyme activity in the nervous system of insects.
Application Instructions:
Crop | Pest | Dosage |
Citrus Fruits | Scale insects, Armored scales | 1.5–2 L per 1000 L water with oil |
Temperate Fruit Trees | Scale insects, Armored scales | 1.5–2 L per 1000 L water with oil for winter spraying to destroy eggs of insects, mites, and scales |
Pre-Harvest Interval:
The interval between the last spraying and harvest is 15 days.
Application Management:
- This insecticide reduces blood cholinesterase levels.
- Phytotoxicity is not observed except in some apple varieties.
- This pesticide cannot be mixed with alkaline pesticides.
- When used with oil, it effectively destroys eggs of insects, mites, and scales.
Usage Instructions:
- Select and calibrate an appropriate sprayer.
- Dissolve the recommended amount of pesticide in a small amount of water and add it to a sprayer tank that is half-filled with water.
- Stir while adding the remaining required water.
- Ensure the sprayer’s agitator is operating during preparation and application.
Precautions:
- Avoid ingestion, contamination of food, contact with skin, eyes, or clothing, and inhalation of pesticide particles.
- Do not eat, drink, or smoke during spraying.

- Avoid contaminating drinking water, surface water, and groundwater with the pesticide or its solution.
- Do not wash spraying equipment near rivers or water sources.
Antidote:
The antidote for Ethion is atropine sulfate.
Legal and Expert Usage:
- Use only under the supervision of an agricultural specialist.
- Sale is permitted only with a prescription from an agricultural specialist.
