Description
Introduction and Mode of Action: Thiophanate Methyl is a systemic fungicide with protective and curative properties, absorbed through the leaves and roots. This fungicide inhibits mitosis, disrupting fungal cell division and preventing fungal growth.
Application and Dosage
Crop | Disease | Dosage |
Seed Disinfection | Covered and Loose Smut of Wheat | 150 g per 100 kg of seed |
Apple | Apple Scab | 50 – 60 g per 100 L of water |
Pear | Scab and White Spot | 50 – 60 g per 100 L of water |
Peach | Brown Rot | 50 – 60 g per 100 L of water |
Fruit Trees | Powdery Mildew | 50 – 60 g per 100 L of water |
Pre-harvest Interval (PHI): The interval between the last spraying and harvest for apples is 7-14 days.
Application Management
This fungicide has adverse effects on natural enemies of pests and should be applied at times that minimize harm to beneficial organisms.
Application Method
- Select and calibrate a suitable sprayer.
- Dissolve the recommended amount of fungicide in a small quantity of water.
- Add this solution to a calibrated sprayer tank that is half-filled with water.
- While stirring, add the remaining required amount of water.
- The sprayer’s agitator must remain active during mixing and spraying.
Precautions
- Avoid ingestion, contamination of food and feed, skin and eye contact, and inhalation of spray particles.
- Do not eat, drink, or smoke during spraying.
- Wear protective clothing, including a work uniform, hat, goggles, mask, boots, and impermeable gloves.
- After spraying, wash hands, body, and clothes thoroughly.
- Do not reuse pesticide containers. Empty containers must be stored away from water sources and disposed of according to national environmental regulations.
- Transport of this pesticide must comply with international hazardous material regulations.
Storage Conditions
- Keep Thiophanate Methyl out of reach of children and animals, in its original packaging, inside a sealed storage facility away from sunlight, moisture, and livestock.
- Storage temperature should be between 10°C and 35°C.
- Once the container seal is broken, the product’s shelf life decreases.
- Do not store the pesticide in aqueous solution form.
Poisoning Symptoms and First Aid
Symptoms include headache, dizziness, nausea, and eye irritation.
- If the pesticide comes into contact with skin or face, wash the affected area multiple times with soap and water.
- If poisoning symptoms occur, seek medical attention immediately and present the pesticide label to the doctor.
Environmental Toxicity
- Keep livestock and poultry away from treated areas and prevent grazing in freshly treated fields.
- Avoid contaminating drinking water, stagnant water, and groundwater with the pesticide or its solution.
- Do not wash spraying equipment near rivers or water sources.
Antidote
Atropine along with oximes should be administered in case of poisoning. If poisoning occurs, seek medical attention immediately. Never give anything orally to an unconscious person.
