Description

Introduction and Mode of Action: Bentazone is a contact herbicide with selective action from the benzothiadiazinone group. It works by inhibiting Photosystem II activity, disrupting the photosynthesis process, and causing the destruction of weeds.

Application and Dosage

Application Method

  1. Select and calibrate a suitable sprayer.
  2. Dissolve the recommended amount of herbicide in a small quantity of water.
  3. Add this solution to a calibrated sprayer tank that is half-filled with water.
  4. While stirring, add the remaining required amount of water.
  5. The sprayer’s agitator must remain active during mixing and spraying.

Precautions

  • Avoid ingesting the herbicide, contaminating food and animal feed, skin and eye contact, and inhaling spray particles.
  • Do not eat, drink, or smoke during spraying.
  • Wear protective clothing, including work uniform, hat, goggles, mask, boots, and impermeable gloves.
  • After spraying, wash hands, body, and clothes thoroughly.
  • Do not reuse pesticide containers. Empty containers must be stored away from water sources and disposed of according to national environmental regulations.
  • Transport of this pesticide must comply with international hazardous material regulations.

Storage Conditions

  • Store Bentazone out of reach of children and animals, in its original packaging, in sealed storage facilities away from sunlight, moisture, and livestock.
  • Storage temperature should be between 10°C and 35°C.
  • Once the container seal is broken, the product’s shelf life decreases.
  • Do not store the pesticide in aqueous solution form.

Poisoning Symptoms and First Aid

Symptoms include headache, dizziness, nausea, and vision disturbances.

  • If Bentazone comes into contact with skin or face, wash the affected area multiple times with soap and water.
  • If poisoning symptoms occur, seek medical attention immediately and present the pesticide label to the doctor.

Environmental Toxicity

  • This pesticide is dangerous to bees.
  • Remove livestock and poultry from the treated area before application, and prevent grazing in freshly treated fields.
  • Avoid contaminating drinking water, stagnant water, and groundwater with the pesticide or its solution.
  • Do not wash spraying equipment near rivers or water sources.
