Description

Introduction and Mode of Action: Imidacloprid is a contact and ingestion insecticide with systemic activity, belonging to the neonicotinoid group. This insecticide disrupts the normal function of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors and the central nervous system of insects.

Application and Dosage:

Pre-Harvest Interval (PHI):

• 14 days for cotton, pistachio, and tobacco.
• 21 days for citrus.

Application Management:

• The timing of application should be determined by an expert based on monitoring and should be used as part of an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program.

Neonicotinoid Insecticide Management:

• Imidacloprid must be applied after sunset.
• Avoid spraying on ornamental plants that attract pollinating bees.
• Do not spray during temperature inversions.
• In areas where honeybees are kept, apply the insecticide at temperatures below 12°C, and notify beekeepers at least 48 hours before application.
• Do not mix this insecticide with other pesticides that enhance toxic effects on pollinators.

Application Method:

1. Select and calibrate a suitable sprayer.
2. Dissolve the recommended amount of pesticide in a small amount of water.
3. Pour the solution into a half-filled sprayer tank.
4. While stirring, add the remaining required water.
5. The sprayer agitator must remain active during preparation and application.

Precautions:

• Avoid ingestion, contaminating food and animal feed, skin and eye contact, inhaling spray particles, eating, or drinking during spraying.
• Wear protective clothing, including work attire, a hat, goggles, a mask, boots, and impermeable gloves.
• After spraying, wash clothes and body thoroughly.
• Smoking is strictly prohibited during spraying.
• Do not reuse empty pesticide containers.
• Empty containers must be stored away from water sources and disposed of according to national environmental regulations.
• Transport must comply with international hazardous materials regulations.

Storage Conditions:

• Keep the pesticide out of reach of children and animals.
• Store in its original packaging in sealed warehouses, away from sunlight, moisture, and livestock.
• Storage temperature: between 10°C and 35°C.
• Once the seal is broken, the shelf life decreases.
• Do not store the pesticide in aqueous solution form.

Poisoning Symptoms and First Aid:

Symptoms include headache, dizziness, nausea, and vision disturbances.

• If the pesticide comes into contact with the face or body, immediately wash the affected area several times with soap and water.
• In case of poisoning symptoms, seek immediate medical attention and show the pesticide label to the doctor.

Environmental Toxicity:

• This pesticide is highly toxic to honeybees.
• Keep livestock and poultry away before spraying.
• Prevent grazing in freshly treated areas.
• Do not contaminate drinking water sources, including rivers, stagnant water, and groundwater, with the pesticide or its solution.
• Do not wash spraying equipment near rivers or flowing water.

Antidote:

• No specific antidote is available. In case of poisoning with Imidacloprid, consult a doctor immediately.
