Description
Introduction and Mode of Action: Bordeaux mixture is a fungicide and bactericide with a protective effect. It works by releasing copper ions that control conidia and conidiophores. Its fungicidal effect is attributed to copper ions (Cu²⁺), which accumulate in sensitive fungi. These cations form complexes with enzymes containing sulfhydryl, hydroxyl, amino, or carboxyl groups, deactivating them. This disruption causes metabolic imbalance, affecting cellular integrity.
Application and Dosage:
Crop | Disease | Dosage |
Apricot | Shot hole disease | 10 per thousand (1-1.5%) |
Pre-Harvest Interval (PHI): The interval between the last spraying and harvest is 7 days.
Application Management:
- This fungicide is not compatible with insecticides sensitive to alkaline environments, such as organophosphates and carbamates.
- Peaches are sensitive to Bordeaux mixture.
Application Method:
- Select and calibrate an appropriate sprayer.
- Dissolve the recommended amount of pesticide in a small amount of water.
- Add the prepared solution to a calibrated sprayer tank filled halfway with water.
- While stirring, add the remaining required water.
- Keep the sprayer agitator running during preparation and spraying.
Safety Precautions:
- Avoid ingestion, contamination of food and animal feed, skin and eye contact, inhalation of spray particles, eating, or drinking during application.
- Wear protective clothing, including workwear, a hat, goggles, a mask, boots, and impermeable gloves.
- Wash clothes and body after spraying.
- Do not smoke while spraying.
- Do not reuse pesticide containers.
- Empty containers should be stored away from water sources and disposed of according to national environmental regulations.
- Transport must comply with international hazardous materials regulations.
Storage Conditions:
- Keep out of reach of children and animals.
- Store in the original packaging in a sealed warehouse, away from sunlight, moisture, and livestock.
- Storage temperature: between +5°C to +60°C.
- Opening the seal reduces shelf life.
- Do not store the pesticide in aqueous solution form.
Poisoning Symptoms and First Aid:
Symptoms include headache, dizziness, nausea, and vision disturbances.
- If the solution comes into contact with the face or body, wash the affected area immediately with soap and water several times.
- Seek medical attention if poisoning symptoms appear and show the pesticide label to the doctor.
Environmental Toxicity:
- This pesticide is safe for bees but hazardous to fish and other aquatic organisms.
- Keep livestock and poultry away before spraying.
- Prevent animals from grazing in recently treated areas.
- Avoid contaminating drinking water sources, including rivers, stagnant water, and groundwater, with the pesticide or its solution.
- Do not clean spraying equipment near rivers or running water.
Antidote: This pesticide has no specific antidote.
